Odia Students Shine in NEET UG 2023: Securing 8th, 35th, and 63rd Ranks

 In a remarkable achievement, students from Odisha have showcased their brilliance in the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) for the year 2023. Swayam Shakti Tripathy, a student of SAI International School, emerged as a star performer by securing the 8th position in the nationwide examination. With an impressive score of 715 out of 720 and a percentile of 99.99, Swayam has also earned the distinction of being the state topper.


Overwhelmed with joy, Swayam expressed his gratitude, saying, "I can't put into words the emotions I am feeling right now. While I didn't expect to be among the top ten, my teachers always had faith in me and believed I would achieve a high score." Speaking to TOI, he credited his teachers for their guidance and support throughout his preparation.


Joining Swayam in the league of exceptional performers are Surya Prakash Mishra and Abhipsa Chowdhury, both from the same school. Securing All India Ranks (AIR) of 35 and 63 respectively, they achieved scores of 710 out of 720 in the highly competitive NEET. Surya Prakash Mishra, inspired by his father who is a doctor, expressed his ambition to pursue MBBS at AIIMS-Delhi. Both students acknowledged the significance of thorough studying of NCERT books in their impressive performances. Abhipsa Chowdhury also secured the 16th position among the top 20 female candidates.


Notably, three students from Odisha have excelled in the Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) category. Rudra Narayan Sahu and Tilak Agrawal achieved the 4th and 5th ranks respectively among male candidates, while Gitikrishna Swain secured the 9th position among successful female students in this category.


The number of students appearing for NEET from Odisha this year was substantial, with 57,092 registrations. Out of these, 55,866 students participated in the examination, and an impressive 28,330 candidates cleared the test. This indicates a significant increase from the previous year when 33,945 students appeared for the exam and 20,654 qualified for admission.


The exceptional performance of Swayam Shakti Tripathy, Surya Prakash Mishra, Abhipsa Chowdhury, and other talented students from Odisha in NEET UG 2023 is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and the quality education provided by their schools. These students have not only made their families and teachers proud but have also set a shining example for aspiring medical professionals across the country.
